Simcyp Limited

Simcyp provides a modelling and simulation platform which enables pharmaceutical companies to evaluate medicines in the safety of a computer. The particular expertise of Simcyp is modelling the fate of drugs in the body – how they are absorbed, distributed, metabolised, and eliminated (ADME). Simulations are carried out in virtual populations, including children, using data routinely collected during the drug development process. From this, individual patients likely to be at extreme risk from adverse reaction can be identified, and unnecessary exposure to human volunteers and animals can be minimised. The limitations of candidate compounds, including potential drug-drug interactions, can be assessed and managed prior to human studies, allowing better focus of drug development resources.

Simcyp licenses the simulator platform, offers consultancy services and runs education programmes around the world. In addition, Simcyp's in-house science team conducts internationally recognised cutting-edge research and development.

Simcyp's clients form a Consortium which meets annually to provide feedback and guide the future development of the Simcyp Simulator. Currently, 9 out of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies (by R&D spending) are part of the Simcyp Consortium and license the Simulator platform.

Simcyp also receives guidance from a Scientific Advisory Board made up of world-renowned, independent scientists who are active in relevant research areas.
