Sheffield SIFESheffield SIFE was founded in May 2005 as a non-profit, student run social enterprise. We have 93 students working on 8 different projects and our mission is to create economic opportunity for others through sustainable social enterprise. We are also a University of Sheffield enterprise societySheffield SIFE enables students to take part in entrepreneurial activities during their time at University, whilst making a difference in the community. Our portfolio includes projects such as helping a group of visually impaired children run their own company, supporting St Luke's Hospice shops to ensure the hospices long term survival and teaching 187 school children the skills required to succeed in a competitive, global economy, through our Personal Economics program. We also run numerous commercial projects. All the profit from these commercial ventures is then reinvested back into our social outreach programmes. Sheffield SIFE were Runners Up in the 2008 SIFE UK National Competition. Every year SIFE teams from across country meet at the SIFE UK National Competition. This gives SIFE teams the opportunity to present the brilliant projects they have undertaken throughout the year and show other teams how they have been literally changing lives. This year, Sheffield SIFE Limited was awarded the Runners-Up trophy in a very closely fought final round. As a result of this Sheffield SIFE will now be representing the UK in the European Symposium in London. To find out more please visit our website at www.sheffieldsife.org.
